pretty standard question. its not so much the spelling the controler wants its to make sure they heard the caller correctly, some streets sound similar yet are obviously different. also double checks the caller knows where they are, even if caller says i think its spelled **** but its just round the corner from the town hall opposite the petrol station.... its another way of checking location. in modern call systems also gives extra time to trace a call which again makes sure its the right place
